To buy debenture stock listed on the New Zealand Debentures Exchange, just follow the simple guidlelines below.
Primary Debenture Stock Market and other Debex Primary Markets
The Debenture Stock Primary Market lists current issues of first ranking secured debenture stock from approved issuers. Purchase from the Primary Market is the most popular method of investment in secured debenture stock.
Applications for listed debenture stock can only be accepted on the application form which accompanies the investment statement for each issue.
Investors may select a debenture stock that offers the term and interest rate they require from the Debenture Stock Primary Market (note Red Table specials) and order the investment statement with application form attached by contacting Debex, the New Zealand Debentures Exchange using the form provided here, or by email to info@debentures.co.nz

Investor identification
Please be sure to observe the investor identification requirements printed on the Investment Statement. If using a cheque drawn on an account held in the investor's own name to make an initial investment, the investor is not required to provide further proof of identity, but if using a third party or bank cheque to make an initial investment with any finance company, proof of identification is required such as a copy of a current passport or two other forms of identification such as both sides of a current driver's licence, credit card or valid identity card.
Secondary Debenture Stock Market
The secondary debenture market operates in similar fashion to the normal stock exchange, but in this case enabling holders of debenture stock to seek a buyer for the stock they wish to sell prior to maturity, while buyers may benefit from finding an investment offering a higher rate of interest over a shorter time period than is available on the primary market. To purchase debenture stock on the Secondary Debenture Market of the New Zealand Debentures Exchange, a bid must be placed on the trading board. Where more than one bid is received for a listed debenture, only the highest priority bid will be displayed.

Elevation Capital Value International Equities Fund
New Zealand domiciled PIE registered unit trust managed by Elevation Capital Ltd., established by Chris Swasbrook, former partner of Goldman Sachs JBWere PTY Ltd. The fund invests primarily in listed international equities with a maximum of 10% assets in unlisted equities. The trust is "long only", i.e. it does not invest in short positions or derivatives nor does it utilise leverage. A single currency exposure equal to or greater than 10% of total assets may be currency hedged back to New Zealand dollars. Hence the Elevation Capital Value Fund offers a pure international equities investment for New Zealand investors with PIE regime tax advantages.

Sirius Commodities Portfolio Fund
A unit trust managed by NZ Futures and Options Exchange member Commodity Strategies Limited, the Sirius Commodities Portfolio Fund invests directly in one of the Manager's Australian funds, the Global Commodity Fund, operating since April 2003. The trading strategy is based on a fully automated trading model using commodity futures and swap contracts to keep the commodity exposure at 5% of the face value of the contract. This will enable about 95% of the portfolio to be invested in fixed interest.
Key points of the issue:
- Portfolio may include metals, energy commodities and agricultural commodities.
- Minimum investment NZ$1000 with NZ$500 top up amounts or regular minimum monthly subscriptions of NZ$100.

Albany City Property Investments Limited Secured Bonds
Secured bonds issued to assist the Company and subsidiaries fund the acquisition of subleasehold interests in 12.8467 hectares of developable land in the Albany City precinct. The Albany land includes sites zoned for uses including low rise commercial buildings, hotel, bulk retail centre, higher rise commercial office and mixed use buildings.
Key features;
- Maturity date 15 December, 2009. Company retains right to extend to 15 Dec 2011 subject to conditions set out in the investment statement.
- Minimum investment $5000.
- 10.50% p.a. interest to 15 December, 2009.
- Higher of 10.75% p.a. interest or 4% over 2 year Gov. stock rate if term extended to 15 December, 2011.
- First interest payment 31 March, 2007, quarterly thereafter.
- Bonds secured by mortgages and other securities, rank in priority and right of repayment behind the Group's bank and other senior lenders, ahead of unsecured creditors.
- Borrowing ratio 64% of Company assets following acquisition of subleasehold interests in Albany land. Ratio extendable to 75% subject to conditions.
- Building program now commenced.
- Major ASX-listed property company Valad now holds 50% of Albany City Property Investments Limited.
